NEW WATERCOLOR LEAVES AND TABLESCAPE

I am enjoying the Fall here in Central NY so much!  I cannot go out without picking up the wonderful colored leaves and then draw and watercolor them!  Here is a group I finished this morning.

This is the photo I took first before drawing the leaves.
And this is the drawing with watercolor added:

Now I have 3 completed, trimmed and ready for framing.

Here is my table with fall leaves allowed to curl up and decorate the lace tablecloth.  Fall colors are just so pleasant to see!  Pls send photos of your creations and thanks so much for visiting!

OCTOBER

Wow!  Has it really been since May that I last posted???  I sold my home in SC and moved back to my hometown August 6th.  I bought a cute little 2 bedroom with small yard and love being back among friends and family here!  I waited a year and a half after losing my sweet Bill and still wanted to come back, so here I am.  Loving the Fall here in Central NY!  My sis-in-law gave me 2 well-worn, but good wicker chairs and a table to use on my patio.
I bought 2 cans of brown spray paint at the dollar store and spray-painted over their faded brown surfaces. Loved how they came out!

Next, I found 2 chair cushions on sale end of season in Walmart and a vinyl place mat to match and wah-lah! Love it!

I really love the way they came out!  I did not notice until taking these pictures that the backs of the chairs do not match-ha!  No matter...

And I finally got settled in enough to get out my sketch pad and have been sketching the gorgeous Fall leaves I pick up from the yard!

This will make a nice seasonal wall hanging when framed.  If you cannot draw, TRACE several leaves onto sketch paper.  You don't even need to put in the veins, just color with crayons or colored pencils like you did in elementary school and you will have a treasure for your wall, too!

So many crafts, so little time!!  Come back for more crafting!

Decorating for Fall

I LOVE decorating for fall! Everything is so bright and colorful, full of life even though is the end of a summer season!  This metal Rooster was a gift from my Sis-in-law, Sue a couple of years ago.  Other than a candle, I had not decorated it much.  It hit me today that I could put fall leaves to accentuate the Rooster tail and feathers.  So I bought a bush of fall leaves at the Dollar Store and a sprig of leaves with berries and gourd.  This is the end result and I am most pleased!  I also bought the vanilla candle in the $ store.

I placed him on the rolling cart in the kitchen and it looks wonderfully fallish and cheery!

This Pilgrim Cookie Jar I found at Cracker Barrel on sale after the season a few years ago.  I loved it but it was $25.00 when I first saw it and I would not buy it.  Later on, it was marked  half price and I was thrilled.  I always use it for my October and November (Thanksgiving) table.  This year I added the pumpkin, $5. at Wal-mart and the smaller one for $1.49.  I added a bow with fall leaves on it (the spool of ribbon $1 at $ store).  Lastly, I added the candle with corn on it that I bought at a white elephant sale in our community!   I love all these economical but most pleasing decorations.  What have you come up with???  I would love to see, send me pictures!

Thanks so much for visiting and do come again soon!  I will be painting tiny acorns to look like pumpkins!!

Have a blessed Sunday tomorrow and thank God for all the blessings he has given us and all of those that are yet to come!

We are blessed so that we may bless others with our understanding, caring and support.  Thank someone you love for being there for you!

IT'S FALL Y'ALL!

Loving the fall season and just put some fall things in my Etsy Shop with more to come.  My leaf pillow is a fun and fast project.  Shown below:

I just bought a quarter of a yard of Fall fabric in the leaf print.  I drew a free-hand Oak Leaf on the wrong side, folded the fabric over and cut the 2 pieces at the same time.  You do not have to be an artist to do this!  I stitched around leaving the opening where the stem would be and stuffed the pillow quite fully with polyfill.  I sewed the opening together by hand and added the silky brown ribbon cluster.  Next I added the buttons on either side for accent.  For this pillow, I used a contrasting color so that the pillow could be used on either side.
The pillow measures 15" in length and 14" at the widest point of the leaves.  I use cottom quilting thread for all my hand sewing because it is stronger.
Our other Fall project was more difficult.  I created the Cornicopia pattern for my husband to cut out of wood and relief carve.  Then I painted it in the bright fall colors and he put a coat of clear varnish on it and a sawtooth hanger on the back.  This measures 8" X 12" and makes a beautiful wall decoration in your kitchen or dining area.  I keep one in my kitchen year round.

If you are not this crafty, go to our Esty shop and you can reasonably purchase one of these.  http://etsy.com/shop/ohearn67   we will be adding more fall items now.

Thank you so much for visiting and if you need help with any of the projects, please write and let us know.

Here is a collector pallette card for you to copy and use.  Makes a great gift tag for all the crafters or printed out on longer paper it can be used for a book mark.  Personalize in your photo program to put a name on it.  Enjoy!

Golden Autumn is coming....

Golden Autumn is coming soon! And my crafty mind is whirling-ha!  A little gold craft paint and some materials from nature and I have instant fall decor!  Here is a little cluster of leaves that fell from the Live Oak tree in the neighbor's yard.  It even had the acorns attached.  I painted the leaves front and back with gold acrylic paint and gave the acorns a touch of orange color.

When we were on our trip to Auburn, NY, I picked up these dried plants from the field across the road from the house we stayed in at the Lake.  I do not know the name of them but an insect causes these round galls to form and they make great decorations for fall bouquets or just in a floor vase all by themselves.

Dried thistle can also be used and I also picked some of them but need to spray paint them with gold as it is impossible to paint them with a brush-ha!
See what you can gather up to give a touch of paint and warm your home for fall.
Thanks so much for visiting and do come again soon!  Check out my Kerrie's Korner SC blogsite to see the lovely butterfly house my hubby made and painted!
