How to make Paper Ballerinas...

I hope you love this share as much as I do!!

This was graciously shared today on Facebook by "Handimania" and I cannot wait to make some of these beautiful Paper Ballerinas!  (Shared by Karina Haczek)

Paper Ballerinas

Whether you dreamed about being a ballerina as a child, are a mom of a girl who’s into ballet or simply like delicate, handmade decorations, we think you’ll like this adorable Paper Ballerinas project. It’s a great idea for moms and daughters that can make a lovely decoration for girls’ bedrooms.

To prepare these tiny paper figurines, you’ll need some flexible wire, white paper napkins and diluted glue. Forming the wire may be a bit difficult for little hands but crafty moms will manage for sure. This cute idea comes from Stariy Chemodan’s blog, but since the original post is in Russian, we’ve decided to present the whole tutorial with our description of steps.

Already looking for supplies? ;) We hope you’ll have a lot fun while making them! Do send us some photos when you finish and tell us how it went on our fan page :) We’re always there for you!

Divide the napkin into layers. If the napkin is patterned, use only plain layers. Remember to leave some single-layer napkins for later.

Tear the rest of napkins into 1.5 inch wide strips (don’t use scissors). Now, take your wire outline and wrap it with paper strips, then cover it with the diluted starch or glue. You can also dip it into the solution.

Painting Acrylic Roses and Flowers video share

David Jansen is a very talented artist and he just came out with a new video.  I subscribe to his site and so I am notified when he adds anything new.  I hope you enjoy this share and learn from it.  It is a long video but you can skip through some of the talking by moving the progress bar at the bottom.  ENJOY!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTV61P9lW-Q&feature=em-uploademail-subject1

This is a still shot I took of my computer screen...

I have been crocheting white cotton dishcloths.  I saw one that was a granny square but then only worked on three sides to finish it and I really liked the look.
This was very easy to do:
I made a granny square and added one row of single crochet around it.  Then I added 4 rows of double crochet on 2 sides of the square.  Finished by another row of single crochet around the whole square edge.  (angle of photo does not show the perfect square shape.  The one shown in my previous post was taken by a cousin, the minute she saw it-ha!  I made this one in just a few minutes last night.

Thank you for visiting and do come again soon!  Hugs to all you fellow crafters out there!

Crocheted Hats I created and Spiral Scarf

These are some baby bonnets that I crocheted from experimenting without a pattern.  I love the way they came out and I even got a special request for the blue and white one for a baby boy. I will tell you how I did it.
I used simply soft brand yarn that has a sheen to it and then Bernet yarn for the flower and green band.
I started with a 5 crochet chain ring. 2nd row I did 2 single crochet in each chain around.  Then after joining, did 3 rows of double crochet increasing a stitch in the top of every other previous double stitch until the size I thought was sufficient for the top of the hat.
Then I did a row of shell stitch (single crochet,3 double crochet, 1 single crochet, all in one chain stitch of last row.  Skip a stitch and repeat.  Next, I did another row of double crochet using the base of each shell stitch and joined.  I added 5 double crochet rows using the green for the 4th row.  When the 5th row was completed I did a finishing row of shell stitch again to frame the face.  I then crocheted the little flower and sewed to the center of the bonnet.  Ribbons could be added on either side.

BOY BONNET

To finish this one, I crocheted a circle of 3 rows single crochet and added a little embroidered Duck (from craft store) in the middle.

I also finished another beautiful lacy Sashay yarn scarf in shades of orange, rust and red.

These scarves are available in my Etsy Shop (link in sidebar).
Wear indoors or out for a beautiful accent to your sweaters and blouses, so versatile.

Thank you for coming and please leave a comment, it is easy to do and I treasure them :)

Napkin Rings from Towel Roll

Hello Crafters!  Here is an easy napkin ring tutorial.  Make for yourself or for gifts.

When your paper towel roll is empty, take the cardboard roller and cut about 2 inch wide pieces.  This roll made 8 rings.  Next I took some fall Apple fabric from my stash and cut strips a little wider than each ring and used white tacky glue to paste onto the ring.

Then I cut a smaller piece of fabric for the inside of the ring and glued that down.   And then I let the glue dry overnight.

Add a white napkin and now you have your own designed napkin rings!  I used "Aleene's Okay to Wash It" glue so the napkin rings can be moist cloth cleaned if stained.

You can also make napkins rings with Christmas print, which I also have in my stash and I plan to make aprons from both the apple and the Christmas print-NEXT!

I have been busy crocheting things for my Etsy Shop: Scarves, dish cloths and a darling crocheted Teddy Bear!  You can buy from this page by clicking Buy Now in my side bar or go to our Etsy Shop site.
Set of 3 crocheted dishcloths
Sweet crocheted Teddy Bear with Polka Dot ribbon 8" tall.

Detail of button features.  My own original
creation.
He is so soft and cuddly,  great gift for teens.  Not recommended for toddlers as they put toys in their mouth and could be a choking hazard.

Fluffiest Pink Pom Pom scarf
Lovely white/green/blue variegated Bernat Pipsqueak yarn.  So soft and fluffy! 100% Acrylic.
My bust of Beetoven makes a perfect model for the scarves-ha!

Thank you so much for coming today and do come again soon!  I love comments, please leave one for us.  Till next time, have great crafting days!!

Paper Roses♫

REMEMBER THE SONG, PAPER ROSES? My Mom used to make crepe paper roses all the time and they looked so real!  Mine are much smaller but here is how to make them!

Supplies:  Floral wire and tape (craft store), stick glue, crepe paper, scissors.
I like this package of wire as it comes with its own cutter.
Begin by cutting an irregular circle from the crepe paper.
This is what it will look like.  It is now ready to begin rolling.  Hold the center with one hand and start twisting the paper  wrapping the petals as you go along.  I tack it with stick glue while wrapping and pinch the bottom of the flower while I am wrapping.
When I am finished wrapping, I glue the bottom of my rose with the stick glue again.
Next I add the floral wire overlapping it at the base of my rose and start applying the floral tape around the base of the rose and the wire and start twirling with my thumb and index finger.  As you stretch the floral tape, it becomes sticky and will adhere to the wire and base of the rose.

Continue rolling and twisting until you reach the bottom of your stem.

These work up very quickly once you get the hang of twirling the rose and then the floral tape around the wire.  You can make a bouquet in no time!
I did not have green paper to make leaves but will show you that another time.  They are even easier to make!
We finished our Lighthouse paintings and I think Hubby did a great job on his, I love it and cannot wait to frame and hang it.

Hubby has been having a rough time of it lately with the chemo and meds but we are hoping he will feel better soon.  He sleeps a lot due to the meds and he hates not being able to get outside as our SC temps have been so hot as is normal in July and August. Thank you so much for visiting today and When my pinwheel quilt is finished I will post a picture.  Do visit my other blogs if you have time, the list is in my sidebar.  Have a most wonderful and Krafty day!! Hugs,
