Easter Joy

Easter Door Decoration

I LOVE SPRING DECORATIONS FOR THE DOOR AND EASTER DECORATIONS!  By combining the two, I came up with not just Easter but for all of the Spring, this Bonnet with spring flowers and a bunny.  You can purchase these little hats in the dollar store this time of year and also the fabric flowers.  Hot glue the flowers around the hat and attach the little stuffed bunny with a twist tie and Ta-Dah!  You have a wonderful cheery door decoration that will last through several years.  I bring this one out every spring and this is the 3rd year that it hangs on my front door to greet all who enter there.  Make your own with a variation in the type of straw
hat, stuffed animals, or plastic Easter eggs.  All of these materials can be bought in the Dollar or Dollar Tree Stores and for very little cost, you can make your decoration as well as one for family or friends.  It makes a very sweet gift!

Mixed Media Painting

This is my finished piece that began from a pen sketch of hubby sitting under a Live Oak Tree at Buck Hall, SC campground.  It is right on the Intercoastal Waterway and very beautiful.  I then colored it with pencils and finished it off with some watercolor.  Hubby just framed it for me this afternoon and I wanted to share.  You don't need to be a Picaso to make your memories come alive on paper from a photograph.  Just pick your favorite and start drawing.  So what if it looks primitive?? It is for your enjoyment and sometimes that makes the prettiest picture and the most interesting.  The more you draw, the better you will become.  Your eye will become trained to see the details in nature and the colors in the sky, land and water.  Give it a whirl.  You will be surprised what your little sketches look like when framed.

St. Patrick's Day

No new crafts today, just wishing all those wonderful crafters out there a very HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!!♫♫♫ Sure and I love the Irish Music and the Irish dancing, the Chieftans, all Irish singers and traditional songs!  I am half Irish, my father was Irish and born in 1907, one of 7 children in an Irish Catholic household.  He named me after the county Kerry in Ireland but wanted the spelling to be unique, Kerrie.  In later years I see that spelling has become very popular even among movie stars.  One of his sisters was very adept at sewing and canning. Another served in the armed forces.  Another sister became a nun.  My father had wanted to be a doctor and I thought at times he knew as much as one! A brother and sister died early in life ony 20 and 33. Another brother was a business owner and my father was a shoe worker most of his life.  I loved the stories my Dad told of the older folks, the songs he taught me and my brothers and sisters to sing and the liveliness of the Irish jig.  He had me take violin lessons when I was 11 through 15 yrs. and I became first violinist int he H.S. orchestra.  I still can fiddle a good Irish Tune and remember the words to Irish Washerwoman!

And a hole in the floor for the chickens to
  scratch!" ♫

HOME TWEET HOME....

TODAY WE ARE SHARING THE BEAUTIFUL LITTLE REPLICA OF OUR CAMPER AS A BIRDHOUSE!  I think this came out just adorable.  The blue across the top and the white down the sides is representing the awning! The rest is painted on with outdoor acrylic paints and then a couple of coats of varnish were applied.  A really fun project.
